| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the podcast. This is episode 394. My name is Douglas Wilson, and I'm glad you're here. |
| 0:24.7 | So what I want to talk about in this opening slot is what might be called the revenge of Godwin's law. |
| 0:32.0 | The revenge of Godwin's law. Godwin's law was rolled out in early in Internet history, and the law said in an online dispute, |
| 0:43.6 | the first side to make a Nazi comparison loses. The first side to call the other side a Nazi |
| 0:51.7 | loses. Now, a number of things have happened since that, |
| 0:56.6 | and Godwin's law entered into common discourse. Oh, yeah, you know, who called the other one a |
| 1:04.7 | Nazi first? But things got complicated because we've had a resurgence of people who now call themselves Nazis, |

| 2:07.4 | And she was going to be giving a press conference at the U of I campus. |
| 2:13.2 | And I wanted to hear her at the press conference, so I stopped by. |
| 2:17.2 | And as is often the case with a political entourage, she was running late. |
| 2:21.9 | And so there were a bunch of people there standing around waiting for the congressman. |
| 2:27.3 | And she insisted incidentally, she said, she refused the title Congresswoman. |
| 2:32.4 | She said, I'm a congressman. |
| 2:33.5 | The congressman is the name of the office. I'm a congressman. |
| 2:36.6 | Not that she was claiming to be a man. She was just holding the office of a congressman. |
| 2:41.2 | So Helen Chenowith was running late. And there were protesters there. A bunch of people protesting our good congressmen's stand on various things. And there was a young man across the way |
