In the woods of New York State in the 1820s, there was a man whose name was Joseph Smith.

He had retreated to the peace and tranquility of the forest in order to pray.

While praying, he allegedly had a vision.

In this vision, God and Jesus Christ appeared to Him and told Him His sins were forgiven and that all contemporary churches had turned aside from the

gospel. He would go on to form one of the largest cults in the world known today as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Also in the 1820s, just 90 miles away from where Joseph Smith had his vision,

another man had a life-altering spiritual experience in the

woods of New York.

This man had come to the point in his life where he needed to finally decide if he was going

to follow Jesus or not.

That man described his experience in those woods with the following words.

The Holy Spirit descended upon me in such a manner that seemed to go through me, body and soul.

I could feel the impression, like a wave of electricity going through and through me.

Indeed, it seemed to come in waves and waves of liquid love,

for I could not express it in any other way.

It seemed like the very breath of God. Who was this man? None other than
