His point was he just spit it out there without saying perhaps. Notice it wasn't him who said, but perhaps,

I know a little bit about God. And I know his heart of compassion. And we know that he knows that.

I don't want to look ahead yet. But if you were here with us in the very first week that we study this,

we know why he did not want to go to Nineveh. Why didn't he? Because he was

afraid God might forgive him and he did not want them forgiven. So we already can see that.

So he's hoping nobody turns. We know that for sure because the next chapter is going to tell us

he was still carrying that attitude. So he was going to be obedient. He was going to go tell what he had been told to tell. But in his heart, he was hoping nobody would turn. So he just spit it out there. 40 more days and Nineveh will be overturned. It's all there is to it. Spit it out there. Not even turn or burn. All he's saying is burn. That's it. That it that's it he's just gonna go tell him in advance

so that they'll just know it's coming so that the dread will be upon them so that the fear

will be upon them and so that they'll get to think about all they've done wrong and then they'll

burn that's what he's out for and And what happens instead is verse five. I think

this is amazing. This is even shorter than five Hebrew words of the sermon. It says in verse five,

the Ninevites believed God. They just flat did. They just believed God god what an amazing statement that has become such an important statement

in my personal life just to believe him it was something so important to god in my life

six or seven years ago when he said you've believed in me for so long but i'm just asking you

a question would you just believe me believe what i say is true and here's what i want to pitch out to you

that believe believing always acts now i want to pitch back let me go ahead i don't want to go to

that yet let me let me back up so that I can give you
