Summary

At the risk of violating the sacred integrity of Mark It Down Monday, we decided to take a bit of a mulligan on some of our season predictions. A lot has happened in the college football landscape over the past two months. At the same time, has anything really changed? So Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means first looked at the early Big Ten-less results of the college football season. Who has surprised us (Miami, and other teams in a bad way)? Who has underwhelmed (basically the entire Big 12). We spent the obligatory segment on former OSU defensive coordinator Alex Grinch's issues at Oklahoma and looked at why the Sooners remain a notch below the other national contenders. Then we took another look at our preseason Hesiman predictions. The Buckeye Talk crew unanimously picked OSU's Justin Fields over Clemson's Trevor Lawrence for the honor originally. Does the Tigers' head start give Lawrence any kind of an edge? Who else do we think could make it to New York, and has anyone already fallen out of contention? We also took an opportunity to correct our preseason Big Ten order of finish. Did the schedule release and any remaining opt-outs change our expectations for who reaches Indianapolis for the Big Ten championship game? Thanks as always for listening to Buckeye Talk. Welcome to Buckeye Talk, another market down Monday, and actually a historic day, the first

0:35.8

re-market down Monday, or the first erase it and mark it down again Monday.

Something we've never tried here. I hope we're not compromising the

0:43.6

sanctity of market down Monday here. I'm Nathan Barrett from Cleveland.com. He's

Doug Lamer East Stephen Means. Obviously the football season has started. We

0:51.6

made a bunch of predictions over a series of

0:54.0

podcasts about how this season was going to unfold and then the season looked like it was

0:59.4

falling apart in front of our eyes and then it wasn't going to be a season as far as the

1:02.4

big ten and then now there is but some

1:04.3

other teams are already playing and some teams aren't and some players aren't and so we thought it would be a good idea to maybe give ourselves the

1:10.2

option to revisit what we previously marked down and see if we need to make any

1:17.0

changes. Do you guys feel like this is a refreshing opportunity to get to do this to make sure our record is correct or do you feel

1:25.1

like we are sullying the good name of market down Monday with this compromise?

1:30.6

Were we supposed to remember what we said last time?

1:33.0

I will tell you what you said.

1:34.0

Oh good, okay, thank you for looking that up.

1:36.0

No, I think we have to do it and I feel caught in a weird spot because to me it feels like,

1:40.0

ah, college football hasn't started yet.

1:42.0

But by the time Ohio State plays, other people are going to have played like four or five games.
