debt and save more money. Sometimes that money has to be put to work and so we invest it.

We want to be able to have that money earn a little more money so its job is to grow over

some long period of time. Investing is something I've hit on a lot in this podcast over the

last, oh gosh, I don't know, 10 years or so and y'all know I'm a big fan of index funds.

said I was recently listening to you on the Budget Nerds podcast and when you were asked

for a finance tip that gets surprised people or something like that, Ernie asked me what

is a hot take that would break the internet and I thought about it for a while and I thought

well one that would break the internet is probably something like index funds aren't

all they're cracked up to be and Jocelyn says I wonder if you could maybe expand on that.

I'm drinking your cool it and some of my cool it is index funds because they allow you

to diversify very easily and you don't have to worry about picking winners. You just you

pick the whole market and your bet is you are investing in the idea that on the whole

the economy will grow and you will get to take part in that broad economical growth not

just the growth that you get from your own labor and paychecks. I think I misunderstood

what I was supposed to say there. I was supposed to actually say one of my hot takes you

know like scrambled eggs shouldn't be cooked to death. Is that a hot take? I don't know. Yeah

mild sauce is the best maybe that's a hot take. So I was just I was hypothetically saying oh this

hot take would break the internet because the internet by and large the internet is it's a huge
