I'm really excited for today's conversation with Marco Capelli of the Storia

di Italia podcast. Marco's podcast is a history of Italy, but in the Italian language. Our conversation

is in English today, as I don't speak Italian, but Marco does speak excellent English.

As you well know, I have hard enough time in English as it is, so I'm glad we didn't get too much into Italian.

Our conversation today is a wrap up of many of the topics we've discussed in the history of the papacy podcast going back years and years.

And I think this is an excellent episode for the first episode of the year 2020 or 2020.

We get to look back at the topics we've talked about in the podcast,

but with someone who can give us an on-the-ground perspective,

an Italian perspective on the important events where

papal and Italian history intersected. As we progress in our story, events in papal and Italian
