There's a question I think about a lot.

Can black people in this country ever experience true justice?

Looking back on this year, it felt like maybe we got closer in 2021.

In April, Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd.

And just last month, the day before Thanksgiving, three white men were found guilty of murdering

a mod arbery.

Count one, Malice Murder.

We the jury find the defendant Travis McMillan guilty.

You're going to ask whoever just made an outburst, be removed from the court, please.

A mod was killed while he was on a run almost two years ago in February 2020.

To many, his murder was a lynching with three men tracking a mod down a suburban Georgia

street in broad daylight, trying to stop a messy ran past, and then gunning him down.

Still, it took 74 days and the leaked video of the killing for authorities to arrest

father and son, Travis and Gregory McMillan and their friend William Ryan.

Black people across the country celebrated these guilty verdicts in Minnesota and Georgia

because after so much hard break, this felt like something close to justice.

You all heard the good rich and grunt that came out of Marcus Aubrey when they pronounced

Travis McMillan guilty.

Every parent in America can take solace in knowing that we have an example of how to

deal with tragedy and grief when they look at the example of Marcus Aubrey and Wanda Cooper

and we should applaud them.
