It's that time of year.

It's the day after Labor Day, and so many parents are sending their college freshman off to school.

And it can be a very bittersweet moment for many, many parents. I remember last year,

we drove to Ohio to drop paleo off. And it was the entire family. It was her dad and her sister and I, and we helped her move in and decorate her dorm room. We had a big family dinner. It was

so emotional and moving. And I was reading

about a good friend of mine. I've known him for years since before he and his wife had twin daughters

who just turned 19 and they're off for their freshman year. They're going to two different schools.

And it's it's heartbreaking because you see your kids as kids until the moment

they make that first adult transition. And for us, like my girls had only spent two weeks

away at gymnastics camp a few years ago before the pandemic. That was really the only significant time we had spent apart.

So it was a shock and a transition.
