Summary

This time around, we're shining the spotlight on another newer game that, like Shovel Knight, feels like the platonic ideal of a specific retro experience. If you ever liked Harvest Moon, still like Harvest Moon, or fell off the series years ago, Stardew Valley is the game for you: it takes the fundamentals of Natsume's storied farming sim, sands off its many rough edges, and expands on the important parts in a meaningful way, all while having a personality of its own. 0:29.0	I'm your host for this one Bob Mackie and today's episode is all about Star Do Valley.
0:33.2	The Harvest Moon we always wanted in our lives.

0:40.6	Cat Bailey, US gamer editor-in-chief.
0:42.4	Now I was going to record this about a month ago, but both of you were unavailable.
0:46.8	And I couldn't do this without both of you because you two are the biggest Star Do Valley fans I know, period.
0:52.3	I've become a huge Star Do Valley fan in like the course of four months.
0:56.1	So that's pretty amazing actually.
0:58.0	I've only recently gotten really into the game because I guess we'll get into our stories as to how we encountered the game for the first time.
1:03.9	But I was working for US gamer with Cat when it came out.
1:06.7	And I pounced on it as soon as it came out and I played about 15 hours.
1:10.1	But I had self control and I told myself, I will never play anything else if I keep playing this game.
1:15.8	This game will take over my life.
1:17.0	So I stopped playing and I only recently picked it up in November when I started flying a lot more.
1:21.7	And now I put like 70 hours into the game.
1:24.5	So I'm sort of like I was there at the beginning and then I took about three years off for Star Do Valley.
1:30.3	But I wanted to point out like we've done a lot of newer games on the show so far.
1:34.0	It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that we do this now.
