Did you know that the opportunity to glorify with your body with all of its

dysfunctionality and all of its thickness is a two second length on this earth

compared to an infinite length when you will have that body made new for which you can glorify God forever. Be patient. Be patient.

So how should the resurrection inform how we think about glorifying God in our bodies?

That's the question that John Piper answers from 1st Corinthians 1550 to 58 in this

episode of Light and Truth. This sermon was originally preached at Bethlehem Baptist Church on July 25th 1993.

If you are an unbeliever, my prayer. I'm talking to believers in these days.

If you are an unbeliever, my prayer for you

is that you might listen in on this conversation

and be rescued from the dead end street of self-reliance so that you might be saved.

If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved. Forgiven all your sins and given the hope of everlasting life and

the resurrection of your body clothed with immortality to live with the King of Kings forever and ever that can happen

while I'm preaching. So I don't mind if you listen. I prayed for you early this

morning. Now it seems to me that I reflect on this that the

resurrection of the body does not have the same power and the same central

place that it seemed to have in the early church.

It doesn't have that in the evangelical church in our church here,

it doesn't seem to me.

I've been pondering why that is and one of the reasons I think it doesn't

is because we have a wrong view of what the final state of our eternal destiny is.
