Summary

After struggling with burnout, I thought it was only right to come back and speak about how I’ve been feeling as well as the pressure to always do more.  I think a lot of us struggle to actually relax because society has made us believe that taking a break is a bad thing. Whenever we take time to slow down, we feel guilty, like we could be doing something more productive. Today I break down why we need to let go of this “rotting” mindset and allow ourselves to relax.

0:37.7

People online have been referring to relaxing as rotting. I have definitely made a joke here and there about

0:44.7

having rot days and stuff, but I think we need to stop calling relaxing rotting

0:49.9

and just call it what it is which is relaxing resting and I just want to talk about how rest is

0:55.0

how rest is productive and yeah so let's get into today's

0:59.9

episode I'm so happy to be back so I guess I'll start this episode off with talking a little bit about why I took the week off and I know it's not that big of a deal. I know I'm making it this big thing when it doesn't have to be. I know the world is ending because I took a week off.

1:16.0

I think I am just really hard on myself and I expect a lot out of myself so when I take a Monday off

1:22.3

I stress the fuck out. I first want to start off by saying that I'm never

1:28.7

going to sit here and say how hard my job is because I quite literally have my dream job and I know it's easy in the

1:36.7

grand scheme of things compared to all these other jobs and I'm doing what I've always

1:41.3

wanted to do. I wouldn't trade what I'm doing for the world. It's so fulfilling. It brings me so much joy. And I know how privileged I am to have this job, especially having so many other jobs that I struggled with and I hated so much.

1:56.1

I am exhausting myself, and it's not like my job is physically exhausting.

2:01.8

It's not hard to do. It's not like my old job when I was on my feet all day running around with

2:05.8

kids and exhausted but the difference between my last job and other jobs I

2:10.5

had to the job I have now is at my other jobs when the work day would end it was

2:18.4

over there was no more work to do I could just go home and relax and feel good about relaxing because I knew there was nothing else I could do for work until the next day.
