I think about Psalm 119, 162. It says, I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.

There is spoil. There's treasure waiting for you and me every day in God's word, not just so that we know it and understand it,

but so that we know God and walk in love relationship with God.

That's why I wrote this book to help you toward that end.

on with, let me invite you to open with me to Psalm chapter 131. All throughout the Bible,

God reveals himself as our heavenly father. Jesus teaches us to pray, our father in heaven. And yet, at times, God reveals himself as our heavenly father. Jesus teaches us to pray our father in heaven.

And yet, at times, God reveals himself through imagery that's comparable to a mother.

And it just so happens that our church's Bible reading plan this week is highlighting one of those

times. So as I was praying about where to go in God's word today, it seemed like a no-brainer that we would all hear this word from God on Mother's Day from Psalm 131.

Look at it with me, Psalm 131, verse 1.

Oh, Lord, my heart is not lifted up.

My eyes are not raised too high.

I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother.

Like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, hope in the Lord, from this time forth and forevermore.

And that's it.

That's the whole Psalm.
