Ivan, Pennsylvania, I wanted to hear your view on the differences between Christus Victor and vicarious satisfaction through penal substitutionary atonement.

I have a friend who is considering Eastern Orthodoxy, and I once did myself.

Along the way, I heard the Lutheran position on justification, and it led me

to unhitch my wagon from the Christus Victor model. I can't quite remember how I came to that

conclusion. Would you be able to clarify the deficiencies of Christus Victor and the proficiency of the

Lutheran position? I welcome all nuances.
