Summary

Welcome to the first new Motherkind episode of 2025! It's time to enjoy the blank sheet of the new year and think ahead to what this year can bring. But it's also good to step away from two things: setting resolutions and the 'new year new you' messaging. In this episode, Zoe shows us why this mindset doesn't work and instead breaks down the best ways to set goals so that we can become happier, more fulfilled and bursting with self-belief to achieve whatever we want to in 2025. Welcome to this episode of the Motherkind podcast. We are sponsored by Stoker. It is me,

0:12.8

your host, Zoe Blaskey. And this is the first new episode of 2025. How are you all? How is

0:20.2

Christmas? Or the mental load Olympics, as I like to call it?

0:24.7

I really hope you've taken a moment to reflect on just how much you have done in the past month

0:31.8

because I bet you made it magical. I bet you did a few late nights wrapping and sorting and cooking. And

0:38.7

if no one has told you, then thank you. You really are incredible. It is the first episode of

0:45.8

2025. And don't ever say I'm not original because it is about goals. But seriously though,

0:51.6

I love the blank sheet, the new year year and I love thinking about what this year

0:57.7

will bring and what I want to achieve but I hate two things I hate resolutions and I hate

1:04.6

the new year new you messages firstly resolutions are proven not to work, so don't even bother. And new you,

1:14.1

I really struggle with that messaging because I don't want a new me. I want the old me with my good

1:19.2

bits and my bad bits and my wobbly bits. So there's not going to be any new anyone

1:24.6

around here. But every Jan, I get asked loads of questions

1:29.1

about goals and change because that's what I do day in and day out. I coach mothers to change

1:34.7

to become happier, more fulfilled, more confident and bursting with self-belief to achieve

1:40.3

whatever it is that you want to. So in today's episode, I want to teach you exactly how to

1:46.6

approach goals. But it is designed specifically for those of us that are time poor, that already

1:54.1

have too much on. The mental load is all ready too high. But there are things that you want to achieve, that you want to focus on

2:04.7

this year. I think it's really vital to say that even listening to this episode is thinking

2:11.4

about you. It's asking yourself or even thinking about what do I want? What's important for me this year? What do I want to focus on?

2:21.4

And that is so powerful because even by listening to this, you are stopping for a moment

2:28.9

thinking about what everyone else wants. And you are turning that spotlight back round onto yourself and thinking what do
