Thanks for this week. I'm Jimmy Wallace. This is the incarnate investigation. You know, the world is a dangerous place.

All around us are a variety of people and situations ready to hurt and take advantage of us.

I bet you take steps in your daily life to protect yourself in danger.

Maybe it's as simple as wearing your seatbelt or washing your hands, but as you've grown through your life,

you likely change the way you try to protect yourself.

The good and bad experiences we'd go through, the influence the way we act, we all kind of develop

defense tactics or ways of living our lives to help us to be careful.

And even with that formal instruction, we all more or less learn how to act in certain ways

that are designed to protect ourselves from all the dangers of the world.

That's how every applicant to our police department is.

When they first come in to get hired, even at that point point they have a basic understanding of danger.

They have an idea of what they should do on a day-to-day basis to protect themselves.

You know, throughout their lives, they learn these basic defense tactics and strategies

based on their own experiences.

But we usually typically don't consider that to be enough.

I mean, before anyone's allowed to work in the field,

every police officer recruit who gets hired,

they're going to be sent for basic training

at a police or sheriff's academy.

We use a local sheriff's academy.

So at the academy, the recruits, they're taught all kinds of

fundamental is about the job. I mean, they have classroom portions and role-playing
