There was a reason I wanted to speak today.

There's been so much going on in our country.

And every time we step into a moment where we see the worst of our humanity, it causes

deep distress.

Sometimes it shakes us at the very core of our being.

To see the violence, the inhumanity, the instability.

And there are so many different conversations that are had in these moments about what

the problems are and what the solutions might be.

And depending on your particular cultural perspective, you may think it's one thing or

another.

And the reason there is so much controversy and conflict about how to solve our humanity's

deepest problems is that they're not simple.

They're complex.

One of the things that has really struck me is that over the last few years, we're almost

in a cultural experiment of how much we can take.

How much our souls can actually take of the pressure of unexpected changes and crisis

and challenges and fear.
