Summary

Rich kicks off the hour breaking down the uncanny parallels between the Aaron Rodgers-Jordan Love situation and the Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers situation when the reigning NFL MVP first came into the league.      Panthers Head Coach Matt Rhule tells Rich why Carolina opted to go with CB Jaycee Horn over Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II, why the team opted to stick with Sam Darnold instead of drafting a young quarterback, if we’ll see a lighter workload for star RB Christian McCaffrey next season, if the Panthers can become the dominant team in the NFC South, what it’s like working for the free-thinking billionaire David Tepper, and his reaction to Scott Drew’s national championship for his former employer Baylor University.     Rich wraps up the hour discussing if the Packers really have done Aaron Rodgers wrong with their roster moves over the years and if the 3-time MVP should have more of a say in personnel matters. Closing in on over 260,000 members of the YouTube community that have subscribed to the show. We want to thank everybody for taking everything in here on our program. Okay, you know, it's it's I've been at this football thing for a while. Right. I've been at this football thing for quite some time joining up hookin up with the old NFL network in 2003. By the way, I've just been told that the schedule release show that has been scheduled for the first time on May the 12th. I will be broadcasting from so fly stadium.

2:10.9

No, not our new studios literally they're here to set up. Wow, like 50. I have no idea that I'm not I'm sure where. But that means that means I'll be hanging out in so fly stadium in Hollywood Park for a second straight month. That's awesome. You know, that's where I ran my 40s last month and we've got Michael Vic on this program to talk about that.

2:31.9

But I've been at this for quite some time and 18 years and 2005 was the first year that I hosted an NFL draft. Now 17 of those in the books. I don't know if you're aware of that number. I heard that somewhere. I had no clue.

2:48.9

But O5 was the first year we actually covered an NFL draft picked by pick. It was in our Los Angeles studios. O6 was the first you were at sight in Radio City Music Hall.

2:59.9

And that was a year that Mike Mayock came on and did his mock draft. A Mike Mayock mock draft and walked us through his mock draft. And this is when we all realized Mike. Mike was going places that Mike was something special that Mike was some something different than many of the rest.

3:17.9

Mike pegged Aaron Rogers to be selected by the Packers 24th overall before the draft. Check it out. Go to YouTube. It's there. Oh, it's real. It happened. I remember we were all like, what are you really? Like he's going to go that far. It's going to last that long.

3:35.9

And you know, this is before Twitter before anything's out there. And you know, that probably would have gone viral almost as viral as Chris Sim saying Justin Fields was going to go to Tampa 32nd overall prior to this year's draft. But you know, Mike called his shot and sure enough, it happened. And we all know the story.

3:54.9

We all know the story about how far was not happy about it. How he froze Rogers out at the very beginning. And and then it took Rogers several years to get on the field.

4:06.9

And then he was going to the Jets because it was over everybody's dead bodies that they would trade far within the conference. And we all know Brett wound up back into division. And that made for a lot and so on and so forth.

4:27.9

I would told me then throughout that entire process when I was on NFL total access, recording the drama, reporting the drama number of times I would say to call Susie up and say, hey, Sus, you know, those dinner plans that we had out.

4:44.9

We're not having them because I got to stick around for farve or hey, you know, that New Year's Eve. Hey, I'm coming home. I'll be at the party actually because Brett told Andrea Kramer after the game on NBC live after Sunday night football, which was the last game of the year on New Year's Eve that he was actually coming back. So that saved us all the trouble.

5:07.9

The number of times that I had to sit around waiting for farve to make a decision and it affected me and everybody in the NFL network, I lost track.

5:17.9

If you had told me then in many of those downtimes, many of those moments that I'd be just staring at the space staring at the ceiling scene as far I'm going to come out of the locker room and tell us what we need to know now or what.

5:28.9

Or the number of times that we would spend our entire show as farve retiring. Is he not? Is he thinking about it?
