Bro, and today is a special day for our family, our daughter and our two granddaughters were all born on this day.

And the oldest granddaughter is graduating today with her degree in teaching.

So if y'all are listening today, we love you, and we're so grateful for you.

And that goes for all of you, too.

We're so grateful for the way you want to pursue a relationship with God and that you would give us just a few minutes here each day on this podcast.

We've been going through the book of Acts in the New Testament section of the Bible, and we are in Chapter 12.

And Chapter 12 opens by talking about King Herod, the King of the Jews, flexing his power.

This would be Herod Agrippa, the grandson of the heret who was called Heret the Great,

who killed all the baby boys of Israel because he was threatened by the birth of Jesus.

So now this Heret continues the family tradition of egomania and cruelty and abuse.

Now at the very end of the chapter, you'll read, God takes him out.

And it's a very gross description. You can read it for yourself. And God doesn't deal with him

because of his persecution of the church, but because he basks in the praises of the people who were

claiming that Herod was a God. And God says, okay, that's enough.

But here's how the chapter opens. It says this. It was about this time that King Herod arrested

some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John,
