So today we are going to discuss examples of exploiting cultural norms or expectations to justify or enforce abusive behavior.

And at the top of everything, you know, the way I've kind of laid out this episode is

everything will kind of be feeding into the other as best as possible. So, you know,

overarching all of these things is just like patriarchal

values as a whole, asserting male dominance and authority within the family structure. It's

culturally acceptable because that's how our society really is working. And underneath this are so many different things.

And the first one under those values comes up as gender rules.

So using traditional gender rules to justify controlling behavior,

such as expecting women to be submissive or men to be dominant. So example here,

you are a woman. It's your job to cook, clean, and take care of the child. A man is supposed to go

out and work and make the money. And even if both parents have a job, these gender rules may

still be there. And a woman is supposed to be
