Today's tip is that when you would like to take the lead on a project,

ask, you can request control, making the transfer of power explicit,

or at least letting people know that you want to help.

Today's tip comes from an unexpected source, the video conferencing function of Microsoft Teams.

Well, the tip sort of comes from Teams.

When you are on a Teams video call, there is a button labeled request control.

This lets any user request control of a shared screen.

If the person who's screen is shared grants control, then the person who requested control

can navigate on the page or highlight something for other people to see.

It is a helpful feature for making collaboration possible.

So I have to say, there is something about the existence of a request control button that

always makes me smile. It seems a little dramatic to request control,
