The House of Representatives starts its new term on January 3rd, and it kicks off with the vote for a new Speaker. While most Republicans back current Speaker Mike Johnson, there are a few holdouts that could cause a delay in the certification of the 2024 election. With uncertainty in Congress, the President-elect may have trouble passing his campaign promises on the border crisis, tax reform, and cutting government waste.
