Summary

Welcome to Replay Thursday, where we play the most popular episodes from the previous season! This episode, "When Plans Change," was recorded after I was released from the hospital following a health emergency. I had to cancel a trip, was grounded from flying for over a month, and had to make several other unplanned changes on my calendar and in my life. This was hard, but people face much harder changes.  We won't always understand why plans change, but it's good to remember that this is a page in the story, not the end of the story. In this vaporous life, we simply cannot know what will happen by the end of the day, let alone tomorrow. This is worth another listen, especially if you're experiencing an abrupt and unexpected change in your plans. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." (James 4:14) Apply: Living What We Learn--Daily Devotional by Francie Taylor NEW! This episode, when plans change, was recorded after I had a change of plans abruptly last year,

and it hit a nerve, and we could understand why, because so many times in life,

0:19.4

we all have that happen to us where our plans are changed.

0:24.3

And you know, we won't always understand why plans change, but we do need to remember that it's just a page in the story, not the whole story.

0:34.6

It's so good for us to remember that no matter what is going on, this doesn't change our

0:40.2

position with God. He can still be trusted. Let's listen to this episode again, especially if you've

0:47.8

had a change in plans. I had a full conference calendar and I had just finished up when I was

asked to speak at a Christmas

gathering. I said yes. I wasn't trying to overbook, but I was hoping to be a blessing to a ministry

that had a pastor in the hospital and a pastor's wife at his bedside. This invitation qualified

1:07.7

for my exception to the rule of not adding to a closed calendar.

But a week before their event, I was the hospital patient.

Uh-oh, change of plans.

How many of you love it when things go according to plan? Most of us do, but real life brings some strange changes when we least expect it. In fact, that's part of our problem. We expect things to go

1:59.1

normally most of the time. Things like a wedding that wasn't supposed to be

2:03.8

called off but suddenly it is. Or that doctor appointment that was supposed to be just a routine checkup,

not a frightening diagnosis. Or your car was running just fine before you packed it solid for a road trip.

2:19.5

Or maybe you were supposed to be holding a newborn, not recovering from a miscarriage. And how could it be that a loved one has passed

away when you just saw them? You were just talking with them. Add your unplanned situation

and whether it's better or worse,
