Summary

We're continuing to bring you some of our best early episodes from the UTD Podcast archive. This week Sam, Helen and Maysie bring you our emotional conversation with Lou Macari.

Lou does fantastic work with his homeless shelter in Stoke, something we spoke about in depth before getting on to his playing days and later a tragedy that struck the Macari family in 1999.

If you'd like to listen through more of our back-catalogue, the best place to do that is over on the Official Manchester United app, where you can listen to and watch all of our episodes in full for free.

Sam, Helen and Maysie also read out some more of your e-mails. We really appreciate these and if you'd like to get in touch, you can write to the only official Manchester United Podcast at [email protected]

We'd also love it if you could leave us a rating and review wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Hello again, welcome back to Manchester United podcast. Sam home would hear David Mayor

0:05.6

alongside me as always and welcome back from her holiday. Helen Evans. Hi. How was

0:10.1

Portugal Helen? It was very nice and sunny and warm and just lovely to have a change of

0:15.6

scenery. It doesn't look sunny. Did you not go out with it? I know. This is the problem. You

0:21.8

don't sunbathe and you've got three kids. You spend your time making food and... Johnny must

0:27.2

be really brown then. So what was it? What was it like just going away? What was it like being on a

0:33.1

plane? Do you know what I'm just going to say? It was complicated. Was it? Only because there's

0:37.0

so much testing and then obviously we went when it was great and then it turned down for which

0:41.3

was a bit of a nightmare. So we've had lots of testing today. But you know what? That's fine. We're

0:46.3

in quarantine and we're all together so it's all good. Happy days. Happy days. Yeah. It's always

0:53.1

better when we're together. I might use that line. If you're all locked in, it might be a good

0:57.1

opportunity to speak to Johnny Evans. It's an idea. He's on Molly, do you think? Right. Before we get

1:03.2

started, a quick reminder that the best place to listen to our podcast is over on the official

1:07.1

manchist night at because there you can listen as well as watch the full episodes for free, which is

1:12.0

pretty sensational. Right now we're continuing to bring some of our classic episodes and this week

1:17.1

we're bringing you one that Maisie wasn't actually there for in person. It was Helen and I who

1:21.1

went down to Stoke to see Lou McCarrie at his homeless shelter and it was I think both of us,

1:26.9

one it was a really opening day but also I think it really set a standard for our podcast that

1:31.2

actually weren't just going to talk about football. I would totally agree with that Sam. I find in

1:35.6

that podcast, we were quite new to your podcast account remember what episode that was,

1:41.5

Tasker would probably be able to enlighten us maybe two or three and I think before I just kind

1:49.1

of thought we're just going to do these podcasts, talk about football, many other careers and that
