Hey everyone, it is summer and that means that we like the rest of you need a little break.

There are so many more of you listening than there were when we started this podcast,

which is incredible and we're so grateful for. And it also means that we have all of these

episodes from when we started this thing that many of you have never even heard.

So what we're going to do is every other week we're going to run one of those episodes. And then on the other weeks, we're going to have a

brand, brand new episode. So stick with us through the summer. And this fall, we promise we have

an amazing lineup for you. And now an oldie, but a goody.

Not sure that's what I set out to do, to put myself in the line of fire.

I just was one of the only vocal ones.

Because there are more actors out there that could be speaking up.

Because I don't look like all Latinos. There are Latinos that don't look like me that need advocates themselves, that don't see themselves in me.

So I go behind the camera, I create opportunities so they can see themselves because I can't

always be that reflection and one human being can't represent an entire community.

Gina Rodriguez has a lot to look forward to this year. Her new movie, Miss Bala, is out in theaters,

and her Carmen San Diego reboot is streaming on Netflix. Jane the Virgin, the television show that

catapulted her to stardom, is coming to an end after five successful seasons.

On the day we meet to record this episode, she flew to New York on the Red Eye from L.A.

She spent the morning doing press and being grilled about the perception that her advocacy has missed the mark.

We talk about it all.
