My guest is Amanda Yates Garcia, also known as the Oracle of Los Angeles.

Amanda is an old friend of mine, and she has guested on this program a couple of times before.

I was trying to put together an episode for today.

And I wanted to do something a little bit different.

I wanted to talk with somebody about this feeling that I have, that we are living in a time of escalating darkness. Not that I'm breaking any big news, but there's just this undercurrent of dread, if I'm

being honest, that I feel. And this sense of almost disbelief that normal life is carrying

on while we have criminals in the White House and we have the entire planet

experiencing ecological collapse and the guardrails coming off and then of course the horror

show that is unfolding in Gaza.

It's too much.

It's overwhelming.

And so I thought I would reach out to Amanda, who incidentally, in addition to being a witch,

is also the author of a book called Initiated, which I talked to her about back when it was published to great acclaim. It has since been translated into six languages. Amanda Yates Garcia,

aka. The Oracle of Los Angeles, also has her own podcast. It is called Between the Worlds,

which it looks at Western mystery traditions through a mytho poetic lens, and it has been downloaded over 2.5 million times.
