Welcome to Gateway Church's podcast. Wherever you're tuning in from, we hope you're encouraged by today's message.

0:07.2

So we are in a series called Good News. I talked to you last week about how the word gospel literally

0:14.8

means good news, but that the word refers to not just the news, but the one who brings the good

0:23.6

news, the messenger, and that messenger being Jesus Christ. And then we're four weeks, this is our

0:30.7

second week, and then I'm taking a word that is really bad news without the gospel, but the gospel

0:39.4

can take that word and make it good news. And last week we talked about the word condemnation.

0:46.2

That condemnation is a death sentence, but through Christ it becomes an eternal life sentence instead

0:53.9

of eternal death sentence. There is no death sentence for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8.1 says,

1:26.4

And I can remember when I first found out the definition, which will go into a little deeper,

1:33.3

but I was in Greek class, so that's, I was in Greek class one years ago. And anyway,

1:44.1

when you look back on your college years, you don't remember a lot of what the professor said,

1:52.6

but ever now then there was something said that impacted you that you remember to this day,

1:58.0

probably. And I do remember economics class. Economics class, I bought my economics book for $80

2:06.3

and then sold it back to him for $4 at the end of the semester. So I'm not sure I learned much

2:14.2

about Bilo and sell high from that class, but anyway, in Greek class one day, the professor said

2:24.9

the word repentance and he was just going, just kind of going on using it as an example,

2:31.9

but he said, it means change mind or change the way you think, the verb would be changed the way

2:39.3

you think, the noun in your mind, change your mind. And then he just went on. And it just kind of,

2:49.0

it didn't set right with me because if you remember when I was in college, I was already
