| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Ask a Cycling Coach podcast presented by Train and Road today. |
| 0:02.7 | We have Santa Cruz hit squads, Tobin Orton Blod with us, back with us again. |
| 0:06.6 | And Tobin, you're a professional. I'm not a professional. You're going to break down one of my power profiles today. That's how we're going to kick off the podcast. Straight in. Just jumping straight into it. We're also going to go into some questions that people have submitted. you can submit them down below in the YouTube comments or Spotify comments or at trainroad.com slash podcast and we review those questions every week. We're also going to |
| 0:25.6 | talk a little bit about what Tobin has going on and we're both doing the same race next weekend. |
| 0:30.0 | It's going to be drastically different times. I can promise you this. So it'll be, |
| 0:34.0 | it'll be a good time. Tobin, for those that don't know, you just, so you just did Transcascadia. |
| 0:41.4 | Can you explain what Transcascadia is? |
| 0:43.1 | Yeah, Transcascadis is an enduro stage race. |
| 0:46.7 | So it's five days. |
| 0:48.5 | There's four stages per day. |
| 0:51.5 | And we camp for it. |
| 0:54.1 | So every day we shuttle out of camp pretty much as high up as the shuttle rigs will take us. Start the route. It's all point to point. So we start wherever the shuttle is. And it's the transfers are a combination of riding. And actually there's a ton of hiking. Like there's literally some of it you just can't ride. So you're pushing your bikes on your shoulders. There's a lot of time off the bike. Like the first day was 23 miles and I'm like, oh, that'll be three, four hours. Like it should be eight to 10. I was like, yeah, okay. And it did. It actually took us eight hours. Um, oh my gosh. Like door to door. Yeah, or from when i left the shuttle to back to camp |
| 1:29.5 | because every day descends back to camp um okay but yeah so anyways uh big transfers uh the longest |
| 1:37.8 | like pedal stage is probably 15 minutes so it's not like i guess a true i don't know how long |
| 1:41.6 | like an eWS stage is but shortest stage is not that long |
| 1:45.4 | usually three or four like minutes I think more like downhole run lengths the longest stages here |
| 1:50.7 | are like 15 minutes so you're just you're pretty pinned um so yeah anyways four stages |
| 1:58.0 | a day five stages you're, they shuttle you and everyone |
| 2:01.4 | parks at the airport and you get shuttled in, you got your bike and what, what, everything you brought for the race. It's a pretty unique, pretty unique race. You also don't know what the course is like, right? Yes. So it's blind. It is blind. It is blind. You can't pre-ride anything. Yeah, you're reading the trail as you race, which is a kind of a unique, a unique way to |
| 2:21.8 | race because you're looking as far out as you can. |
| 2:26.3 | And you're also completely using your periphery because there are, I don't want to say |
| 2:33.1 | like cheater lines, but there are cheater lines, basically. You know, if there's a switch back and you see that there are, I don't want to say like cheater lines, but there are cheater lines, basically. |
