In this episode of the Reparations NOW series, Michelle and Ekemini are seated at the table with Dr. Ana Lucia Araujo. Ana Lucia Araujo is a cultural and social historian. Her work explores the history and the memory of the Atlantic slave trade and slavery and their social and cultural legacies. In the last fifteen years, she authored and edited over ten books on these themes. Her new book Reparations for Slavery and the Slave Trade: A Transnational and Comparative History was published by Bloomsbury in the Fall 2017. Currently, Ana Lucia Araujo is a full professor in the Department of History in the historically black Howard University in Washington DC. In 2017, she was nominated as member of the International Scientific Committee of the UNESCO’s Slave Route Project.
