Hello and welcome to the Katie Halper show. I speak to Representative

Rokana who represents California's 17th District, but I wanted to record a

breaking news update because one of the things that I talk about

was Rokana is Yemen, because he himself introduced legislation on Yemen and that was blocked

by the Republicans in the Congress, but as he explains in the interview,

the good thing is that Senator Sanders and Senator Mike Lee had their own resolution on Yemen.

And so here is a breaking news update

because when I spoke to Roe on Wednesday,

the Senate and I had not yet voted.

And it hasn't totally made it through but there was a major

victory and to explain that I'm turning it over to our good friends at Democracy

now. In a bipartisan effort the Senate voted Wednesday to advance a

resolution to end military support for the

Saudi-led U.S.-backed war in Yemen.

Are there any senators in the chamber wishing to change their vote?

If not, the yeas are 63, the nays are 37, the motion is agreed to.

This marks the first time in US history.

The Senate has voted to advance a bill to withdraw military forces from an unauthorized war

using the War Resolutions Act. Wednesday's votes sets the stage for a

possible final vote on the measure within days. It's seen as a rebuke of President Trump's

handling of the murder of journalist Jamal Hasoggy. Just hours before the vote,
