Tanna Woolie was described as a smart and beautiful teenage girl by everyone that knew her.

She had lots of interests, but she loved cheerleading the most.

Tanna was confident and friendly. She came at life with a positive attitude.

For example, when she didn't win Homecoming Queen her senior year of high school, she didn't give up.

Instead, Tanna entered the Roseman Community pageant and became Miss Roseman in 1976.

After high school, Tanna enrolled in a local college and got a job on an Air Force Base.

And as part of becoming an adult, she decided it was time to get her own apartment.

As exciting as being out on her own was, it made Tanna a little nervous.

Men, neighbors looked at her in ways that made her feel uncomfortable.

She was right to be nervous, scared even.

Because in October of 1978, Tanna was murdered.
