Oh man, I'm really excited, like I said, if you can't tell, just to be able to open up the word with you guys. But before that, I just want to let you know. Like I said, my name is Gage Henry, and I'm married. I have a wife named Shelby. She's over here. She usually gets that response when I introduce her. I don't. And I also have a son named Griffin who, he's all right. He turns one this week.

Yeah, so learning how to parent. I'm an expert. Let me just tell you. Still figuring it out.

0:29.2

But that's our family. And this series for us has been a game changer. Honestly, like the way we've

0:34.2

been talking about this idea of the remnant and that's our series is this

0:37.8

group that remains and we've been praying that for our family what does it mean for us to be the

0:41.9

remnant that jesus is building and so what the whole series is all about is this idea that you know

0:47.1

the disciples are hearing jesus teach them on the side of a mountain and the masses are listening in

0:52.0

so it's not like as the church is growing and as our

0:54.7

church expands, we didn't want to become that church that catered to the masses and drowned out the

0:59.5

remnant. We wanted to continue to speak to the remnant and invite the masses in. So that's what this

1:04.6

whole series has been about. It's been about how do we as disciples of Jesus live out a faith that is real?

1:12.0

What does it mean for us to have a vibrant prayer life?

1:14.3

What does it mean for us to look different in the world around us?

1:17.2

And so last week, if you missed it, you got to go back

1:19.1

because it's actually the full context of what I'm going to be talking about today.

1:23.3

But we learned about these eyes that we're supposed to fix on heaven.

2:01.3

It's almost like the way that Jesus was teaching was so radical to the people that are listening. It's this idea that if you give, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. And if you pray, make sure you don't just like Babylon, like the pagans. Make sure your heart posture is correct. And also, like if you fast, like rub some water on your face so then people can't tell you're fasting. And lastly, like, treasure in heaven. Like, what does it mean to live where you're, literally, your treasure is in heaven? Because where your treasure is, your heart will be also. So that's the context, this idea of this heart posture that we're supposed to have towards God. And today, what's funny is last week, Miles made this statement. He said,

2:07.1

you know, the most unknowing way we are enslaved is through money. Like, I talk to so many college students who picked their major because of money. And all of our decisions in life are

2:11.7

driven by actual, like, what we're going to make in our financial situation. And so today,

2:16.3

we're going to jump back into that same context,

2:18.2

not about money, but it's ironic because the thing I'm about to talk about, I think, is actually

2:23.9

the way that all of us know we struggle the most in our faith. And it's prayer. Because we're
