This is the baseball tonight podcast for Friday, August 5, 2022, and today will be better

than yesterday, producing from the studios of Bristol, Sarah Abbott, also Taylor

Schwank is working from his home studio in the foothills of Connecticut. I'm up in Vermont,

I'm Buster only. Since we last produced a podcast, which was right after the trade deadline,

we heard about the sad news of the passing of Vince Scully. We're going to be talking

about that coming up with Carl Ravich on the podcast. The Dodgers played the Giants

yesterday. Dodgers won, but along the way, Clayton Kershaw had to leave the game.

He says one more, and he don't see anything here as far as him grabbing his arm or looking

at his arm, but whatever it was, he knew right away that he couldn't keep going.

Here's Dodgers manager Dave Roberts talking about Kershaw's injury.

You know, as he was going through a start in that fifth inning, the bottom of the fifth

inning, he just got checked up on a throw and set his back, tightened up on him. So we

didn't want to push anymore. And obviously, Clayton didn't fight to stay in, which is

somewhat telling, but certainly smart. So we're going to get back to Los Angeles, get some

tests and see where we're at going for it. You know, anytime a pitcher has got to come

out of a game, there's somewhat concern level. And again, given it's his back, which has

been problematic at time. So we just won't know more until we get some tests.

On other news and notes, newly acquired what Mara Field says he's received the COVID-19

vaccination, and he'll be able to play in Toronto for the Blue Jays, moving forward.
