On today's show, the college board unveiled a stripped-down version of its AP African-American

Studies course, plus the chair of the Federal Reserve said it's premature to declare

victory over inflation.

But first, Tyree Nichols was remembered yesterday at a funeral service in Memphis, Tennessee.

This came more than three weeks after he was beaten during a traffic stop by Memphis Police

and five days after the city released videos of his brutal assault by the officers.

Nichols' death led to second-degree murder charges against five police officers who were

also fired, as well as the termination of three fire department employees and disciplinary

action against two additional Memphis cops who were at the scene.

Since the video was released last weekend, the Memphis Police Department's Scorpion Unit,

whose members included the five officers who were charged, was permanently disbanded.

Yesterday, Tyree's family and friends gathered alongside at National Figures to remember

him with tributes and songs, as well as calls for change.

What was heartbreaking, but very authentic about this entire funeral was that it was about

how his family wanted him to be remembered.

It was about celebrating his life, and I thought that was beautiful, but again, heartbreaking.

So can you talk through a little bit about how his friends and family want him to be remembered?

Yeah.

So, according to his loved ones, Tyree Nichols was a free spirit who loved his four-year-old

son and his mother.
