I think over in the Hall of Fame that during the day the people go through and they look at everything.

And then at night there's a time when they all leave and all the fans and all the visitors leave the Hall of Fame.

Then there's just the workers. And the workers start to leave.

And then it gets down, there's just one person.

That person turns out the light, locks the door.

I believe that the bus talk to each other.

You know, they got plenty to say now.

John Madden immortalized when he entered the Hall of Fame, gone to the age of 85, died unexpectedly yesterday morning.

And we got a lot to say about John Madden today, Chris.

You and I came up at different times.

We have different memories of him, but he's been integral to the fabric of football for 50 years, for more than 50 years.

And it feels like a family member has passed because we all knew him so well. Even though he didn't know us, we all knew him so well.

Anybody who followed football, anybody who loved the sport, loved John Madden, because John Madden

was basically the unofficial narrator of the game for so many of us. And there was a comfort

to hearing his voice. There was a magnitude that was inherent to any game that he was associated

with. It really was, and I think that the way I reacted to it, I think it was a common feeling. It felt

like a family member had passed. It really,

it did to me because for so many families, he was part of your family growing up. He was part

of your family. You turn on the TV and you watch football. He's part of your family. You get

together with the younger members of your generation and you try to keep within 40 points of them

playing the Madden video game.

He just, he was always there. Football was always there and he was always there when

...
