• Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has stopped enforcement of the Senate’s dress code. Many have speculated the decision was made to accommodate Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) who has a reputation for wearing hoodies and shorts. On his X social media page, Sen. Fetterman posted: “If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week.”
• On Wednesday, Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before the House Judiciary Committee. In his opening statement, Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) emphatically said that “everyone knows the fix is in”—documenting instances of political bias within the Justice Department including the incredibly generous plea deal it negotiated with Hunter Biden and his attorneys.
• While questioning Attorney General Merrick Garland during Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) pointed to a double standard within the Justice Department stating: “You indicted [Ray Epps] on a misdemeanor. Meanwhile, you’re sending grandmas to prison.”
• During Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) asked Attorney General Merrick Garland: “Have you had personal contact with anyone at the FBI about the Hunter Biden investigation?” Garland claimed he could not “recollect.” He also refused to directly answer whether he has had discussions about the Hunter Biden criminal probe with Special Counsel David Weiss.
