Welcome to Searchlight. A survey through scripture with Pastor John Corson. It is our desire to bring you a

systematic study of the entire Bible chapter by chapter book by book.

Today on Searchlight we begin our study in the final chapter of First Samuel and in this chapter we see the tragic end of King Saul and his sons.

If you recall earlier in our study in First Samuel, Saul appeared to start out well. He had humility and did some good things.

But then Saul turned his back on the Lord and things continually went downhill.

Let's now join Pastor John and see what the Lord wants to show us in this story.

First Samuel, chapter 31.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel.

And the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines

and fell down slain in Mount Gilboa.

And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons.

And the Philistines slew his sons Jonathan, Abenadab, and Melkai Shua.

These were Saul's sons.

And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him.

And he was sore wounded, very wounded, fatally wounded of the archers.
