Girl. This has been a challenging week as I'm sure many of you know last week a little

peep passed away at 21 years old.

Peep is someone who we've talked about on the pop cast before.

He is part of sort of an offshoot of the sound cloud rap movement.

And also one of the people really at the forefront of bridging hip-hop and

emo, pop-punk, and in my mind one of the most promising musicians really in any genre in terms of shaping

what I felt like the sound of next year or the year after was going to be.

Peep died on his tour bus in Tucson.

The understanding from the police department

is that it was drug-related, a suspected overdose of Xanax, possibly cut with other drugs,

but it certainly appears to be accidental.

This is something that is obviously a terrible tragedy personally and musically and we were going to take this week off of pop-cast.

It's a holiday week after Pete passed, I couldn't kind of stop thinking about how I felt like I wanted to speak about him a little bit, and I felt like I wanted to hear some of those who knew him well speak about him.

I want to talk about his music and I want to talk about what he brought into pop that was so particular and so specific.

We see a lot of blending of styles happening, especially in SoundCloud Underground.
