Time for another edition of The Carolina Insider.

Jones and Adam here with you on a Monday and a little bit of a different show today.

We're going to briefly talk basketball, very briefly, as the Tarillo's do beat Pittsburgh on Saturday and are heading to NC State on Tuesday.

We will give you a quick Olympic sports update later in the show, quick postcard update

later in the show.

But a large majority of our show today is going to be dedicated to our friend James

Spurling.

We mentioned James a couple shows ago.

Unfortunately, passed away very surprisingly from a medical issue.

James had worked for two decades at the Keenan Football Center,

managing Keenan Stadium and the Keenan Football Center,

had a long relationship with Carolina and Chapel Hill and Carolina Athletics well before that.

So the focus of our show today is going to be when James joined us back in 2019.

It was August 14th of 2019. James sat down with Adam and me, and we had an

extended interview with him, and so we are going to run that interview for you again today.

And Adam, the service for James, his celebration of life was yesterday, and Carmichael,

a terrific event.

And it just felt like the right thing to do today. There's some Carolina stuff we're going to hit on,

but it just felt like the right thing to do to tip our cap to James, such a Carolina institution

and somebody who you and I both liked and respected a ton. Well, and I think there's a couple reasons why this felt like the way to go.
