Well, welcome to a very special edition of Dr. James Dobson's Family Talk.

I'm Roger Marsh and Gary Bowers with me in studio today.

Gary's in Washington, D.C., I'm in Southern California.

And we are having a conversation about the events that took place on Wednesday, September 10th,

which just rattled the nation as a dear friend of the James Hobson Family Institute,

a good friend of Dr. Dobson himself. Charlie Kirk was gunned down in broad daylight at Utah Valley

University. He was in the middle of doing what Charlie does so best. He puts up a tent at a college

campus that has a sign that says, prove me wrong, and then engage us in

debate with people who disagree with his biblical worldview. And Charlie has done this masterfully

for a number of years. And Wednesday, the 10th of December, was the final opportunity for

Charlie to do so. Gary, I know from your position as our senior vice president of public policy here at the James Dobson Family Institute, you've seen some of the things that Charlie has been able to bring to light in the culture.

But also, I know that there's a personal connection, too. First of all, welcome to the broadcast.

And it's a very, very somber day for us here at JDFI.

Well, it is a summer day, Roger, and thank you for the introduction.

I'll be completely honest because that's what we should do. I am heartbroken. When I first

heard the report, I thought it can't be. And then, of course, it was clear that it was. But

I'm also, and I got to pray about this, I'm angry. I am angry.

Because this is not, you know, it's not an isolated event. I was, you know, I was thinking last

night as I was praying what we have seen in recent months, two young Jews shot down in front of the Jewish Museum by a hater.

The firebombing of the Teslas because people disagreed with Elon Musk.
