I wanted to open today's podcast talking about Bill Russell past this weekend, 88 years

old. I have a couple stories. Some are some are handed to me, some are my own stories

because I actually did interview him when I first first got started in Boston. That was

in 2003. So it was a morning show and he didn't do any interviews. He just didn't do any.

And you know, I was in awe of him through hearing about him, through my father reading history

books, reading anything about it. You know, 11 titles. First player had coach, first black

head coach. We read our backs just like, Hey, look, you know the deal. You're the guy,

Russ, you know, you coached the team. And the fact that I'm like, wait, what was this record

in game seven? It was like, Oh, he's 10 oh in game seven. So there's this old piece.

I think it's like 20 years old that was written about like he goes through and ranks all

of his game sevens and go in and look at those numbers and dig through that stuff. It's

ridiculous. So it was me and two other younger guys, we'd all kind of started at the same

time at this station. And they put us on this morning show basically because we were free.

We were like, we were like, you know, no money. So somehow through the radio station,

there was this connection to a memorabilia guy that was like, we're doing this big memorabilia

show this entire weekend of Bill Russell's actually going to, you know, do some of the stuff

which he never does. So to promote it, we can get you Bill Russell if you want. Well,

if we want. So we're kind of prepping how we want to do the interview and all three of

us are nervous. All right. Again, we're all in our 20s. It's my first real kind of job
