Summary

On today's podcast we are joined by longtime bandmates and honorary siblings, Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins of the band Tigers Jaw! We start the episode with Jonah's adventures selling a used air fryer, what its been like for Ben and Brianna to be playing music together for 20 years and how the town of Scranton has handled the influence of "The Office" for better or worse. We also get into Ben's now defunct but still beloved doughnut shop, the Philly doughnut scene in general and how Tigers Jaw uses their tour rider as an excuse to try new cereal options. Finally we get into our topic, the board game Pass The Pigs, which started at Ben's grandmother's house (Brianna's grandmother had a Sega, no big deal) and is now gifted by Tigers Jaw to the bands that open for them... with the light gambling aspect being fully optional. Finally we play a round of YES-TALGIA OR NO-STALGIA where we discuss the return of McDonald's Shamrock Shake, another Charlie's Angels reboot and is Progresso's viral Soup Drops candy really something worth savoring? Don't forget to check out Tigers Jaw's brand new album "Lost On You" which is available now on Hopeless Records and make sure to catch them on tour when they come to your town!

Whose jaws are agape because we're so excited to talk to today's guests.

Welcome to How Did We Get Weird.

0:36.9

So, Jonah, you have a pretty insane story to tell, I think, today about your air fryer. Yeah. Yeah. Do you ever, and I'm curious

0:39.9

if our guests know this feeling when like you're doing something and it makes sense in your

0:43.1

mind and then you try to explain it to someone and you kind of realize how bizarre it sounds.

0:49.5

The short version is we got a new air friar. We found out that our current air friar, which

0:53.7

used a lot, has like, has like plastics in it or something. We wanted to get a more kind of safe air fryer. Okay. And our old air fryer is like a dual, but it's kind of a nice air fryer. And I was like, oh, I'll just try to maybe sell this air friar. So put the used air friar up on Facebook. I'm getting some messages. This guy contacts me. We're going back and forth. And he's like, can I come to your house and check it out? And I'm like, I don't really want this person knowing where I live, coming to my house. I said, no thanks. Let's meet somewhere else. And he said, well, I want to be able to plug it in to make sure it works.

1:28.7

So I'm thinking, where can I take this air friar that's not my house?

1:32.7

And I'm like, I can't like take it to a friend's house, a Walmart maybe, but I don't,

1:39.0

they might think I'm buying it there.

1:40.4

Right.

1:41.1

So I decided, let's meet at the library, the public library, because I thought they'll

1:48.0

have computers there maybe, they'll have outlets, and maybe I'll just kind of go and I'll

1:54.3

explain it to them what's going on, like to a librarian.

1:57.9

And so I say, meet at the library.

2:00.5

This guy never writes me back. And then I'm kind of explaining to something like, how's your day? I'm like, oh, I'm kind of annoyed. This guy kind of goes to me. I was supposed to meet him at the library to sell this. And they were like, I don't know. Are you sure you maybe you should just donate it instead of going to the library and haven't so yeah so basically i've just basically now

2:19.0

been driving around with it in the back of my car for six months um as one does yes you could

2:25.9

i bet there's a way jona that you could send it to him and say if you aren't like i'll i'll sign something that like if you don't yeah I think he's he's

2:38.1

long the problem is now I don't really trust anyone who's interested in it I think is

2:42.7

automatically untrustworthy but that makes it impossible yeah because they're interested in the
