--

This week the Bayer siblings are thrilled to welcome their friend and actress/comedian/podcaster Casey Wilson to talk about Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet"! Wow, wow and wow! Casey and Vanessa discuss how in love they were with Leo AND their desperate attempts to talk to him, both as children and adults! Plus, Jonah and Vanessa talk about meeting Claire Danes and/or Jared Leto from the spiritual companion tv show of "Romeo + Juliet" which everyone knows is "My So-Called Life"! We also dig into the iconic "Romeo +Juliet" Soundtrack- where would we all be without The Cardigans' song "Lovefool" after all??? Plus, Vanessa talks about the one time she was thrown a surprise party (spoiler alert: She did not like it!... until she saw there was a cookie cake) and in a rousing game of YES/NO-STALGIA we say no thank you to the return of platform flip-flops, and much more!! So love us, love us, say that you love us and listen to this incredible episode!!

So, Jonah, I was thinking the other day about a surprise party that was thrown for me when I was 13 or 14. And I just, do you remember when there was a surprise party for me at our house? Sadly, I do not remember this, but I'm,

1:02.0

I feel like that's not great for the podcast. But please tell everyone, including me about it.

1:07.1

Okay. Well, I'll tell you really quickly, here's how it went down. Basically, I was

1:11.4

positive there was going to be a surprise party for me. And I went to my friend Sarah Wolf's

1:16.5

house, who was my neighbor too. I just walked right over to her street. And I thought,

1:21.1

there's going to be a surprise party for me at Sarah's house. And I got there and I opened the

1:24.9

door and there was nobody there. And I thought, wow, they really think they've gotten me. Okay. So then I was walking around and every time I would like make a turn in her house or like come around to a new bedroom, I'd like open the door. Like there were going to be people there. And then there was no one there. And then we went into her basement. Same thing. I'm walking around this basement. I'm like, oh, what if I opened this door and there was nobody there? And then there was no one there. And then we went into her basement. Same thing. I'm walking around this

1:44.3

basement. I'm like, oh, what if I opened this door? And there was nobody there. And then at some point,

1:49.4

her mom, I could hear her mom like throwing up in her room and like are making like gagging noises. Yeah. And so

1:55.5

her mom called Sarah over and Sarah was like, my mom's really sick sick so she wants us to go to your house. Okay. I did not even think about what was about to happen because they did get me big time.

2:06.7

So then we show up at my house again, one street away. And what would you know?

2:12.6

Birthday party for me. Now my first reaction was feeling a little bit mad because I was like, you all pulled this off

2:20.0

without telling me and nobody told me. But I guess I just want to say that a surprise party is a

2:25.4

mix of emotions and that's how I feel. And I'm curious how our guest today feels about it.
