We're going to look at the short history of St. Veronica and the veil with which she

wiped Christ's face during his passion.

Let us begin the story.

Saint Veronica is known as the woman who offered a cloth to Jesus so he could wipe his face

on the way to his crucifixion.

Legend states that as Christ was walking to Calvary, his face dripping with sweat and blood,

St. Veronica, a bystander, was moved with compassion.

She approached Jesus and offered him a cloth, likely her veil, which he accepted and used to wipe his face.

The image of his face was subsequently imprinted on the cloth.

This episode of Veronica and our Lord is a tradition, right?

It's not in the Gospels.

So we're not quite sure that her name is in fact Veronica,

but rather that this name Veronica was given to her later
