Summary

I remember the first time I read through this passage. I definitely missed out on MOST of the wonderful stuff that is in here for us to enjoy. But even after years of studying the Bible I think it's easy to miss out on some of the subtle and powerful truths hidden in the text. Jesus' last supper is something "everyone knows" and, I would like to suggest that assumption of knowledge is causing many of us to miss out on the beauty and brilliance of this famous event. This is part 59 of the Mark Series, going verse by verse through the Gospel of Mark. Today we are in chapter 14:12-26. 0:00.0	All right, I am very excited to talk to you guys about this particular section of Scripture.
0:11.6	I mean, we're entering into the climax of everything.
0:15.5	I mean, from the Old Testament to the New Testament, the life of Jesus, it's climatically
0:21.2	present right here at the Passover and at the crucifixion of Christ, all these wonderful,
0:25.8	powerful things.
0:26.8	But I think there's a problem I want to address before we dig into it.
0:29.7	The problem is this, we casually read through the Bible and we tend to miss out on the
0:34.8	deep, deep layers of significance and meaning that are in the text of Scripture because
0:40.4	the Bible is brilliantly written.
0:42.6	God inspired it.
0:43.7	He is the original genius and it's written in brilliant ways that does take some like mining
0:49.8	to really get all the blessings and the benefits out of it.
0:52.3	It's kind of like, if you take a sponge and you just sort of hold a sponge over you and
0:56.6	it's full of water, it'll drip out automatically.
0:58.6	And that's like the Bible.
0:59.6	The goodness just drips out.
1:01.6	But if you squeeze the sponge, you get more.
1:04.7	The harder you squeeze it, the more you get.
1:06.2	And this is kind of what we're doing with the Scripture now.
1:08.3	We're going into the Passover.
1:09.9	We're going into the final meal, this climactic moment in the Gospel of Mark where Jesus is
1:14.7	going to bring together so many threads of different things that have been going on.
