Summary

The best selling book "A Rhythm of Prayer" has a number of prayers, including one that asks God to help you hate white people. Let's analyze this prayer because it's not only wrong on the surface, it's a rather clever way to get us to embrace the very unbiblical views of Critical Race Theory, racial guilt and to replace a biblical value of impartiality and oneness in Christ with one of sectarian power dynamics. We will look at the prayer as well as the justification that the author offers for it. It might surprise you to find out that there is a real worldview behind it. 0:14.1	so I'm going to be reading it in its entirety. I'm also going to look at how she has defended
0:18.4	this prayer. And this is not because, this is not because I'm trying to create inflammatory
0:24.0	content that you all like get stirred up with. I look at this as an opportunity to analyze
0:29.2	worldview shifts going on in our culture, and a chance for us to try to be Christian in how we
0:34.7	evaluate things. So please join me on a thoughtful journey through what is a very reckless prayer
0:43.1	being offered in the name of God. So this is from a rhythm of prayer. This is the part that Dr. Shiniko
0:49.5	Walker Barnes has added to it. Here is her full prayer. I'll add some commentary as I read through
0:54.5	it here. Dear God, please help me to hate white people, or at least to want to hate them.
1:01.4	At least I want to stop caring about them individually and collectively. I want to stop
1:06.0	caring about their misguided racist souls to stop believing that they can be better,
1:11.1	that they can stop being racist. I'm not talking about the white anti-racist allies who've taken
1:18.7	up this struggle against racism with their whole lives, the ones who stand vigil for weeks outside
1:23.6	jails, where black women are killed, who show up in Charlottesville and Ferguson and Baltimore
1:28.2	in Pasadena to take a public stand against racism and police brutality, who are so committed to
1:34.2	fighting white supremacy that their own lives bear the wounds of its scars. No, those aren't the
1:39.3	people I want to hate. I'm not even talking about the ardent racist either, the strident segregationist
1:45.1	who moat down nonviolent anti-racist protesters who open fire on black churchgoers or who plot acts
1:51.4	of racial terrorism hoping to start a race war. Those people are already in hell. There's no need
1:57.5	to waste hatred on them. Perhaps, however, you could make sure that they don't take the rest of us
