Hello and welcome back to key films of World War I.

This is your host, James Early, as always.

And as always, I'm joined by my friend and fellow film and history buff, Sean McIver.

This week, we're discussing a film that we didn't discuss back when we did World War I films a few years ago. This film is the 1997 film

Regeneration. It's a British film, and it is a very different film from most of the other words we talked about.

Let me talk about the basics, and then Sean may want to add a few things about the background and all that,

and then we'll move on from there.

So this film is about, there's no combat in it other than some flashbacks.

This takes place entirely in Great Britain, and it's about

a home in which they try to treat soldiers who have what they called shell shock at the time.

Today, we would call PTSD. But what's interesting is the main character in the film is put in there
