But ecologies work in specific cycles,

and the biogenic cycle,

the cycle of water and gases around the planet,

needs animals.

We have broken that cycle.

Just rewilding, just putting things back to nature is not good enough. We're going to have to

strategically, managerially regenerate ecosystems. That's going to require putting herds back in place,

managing herds, making them move. And, yeah, some people will eat those animals.

Some people will not.

I think we need to think of a regenerative economy where we're building back the topsoil

versus an extractive economy where we're pulling out the topsoil.
