0:00.0 | Welcome to the Strong Women Podcast, where each week we explore a deeper understanding of the humanity, value, intellect, and creativity of women. |
0:10.6 | I'm Erin Kunkel. |
0:11.8 | And I'm Sarah Stone Street. We're so glad you're here. |
0:18.5 | So today on the Strong Women podcast, Sarah and I are reflecting on the first part of our conversation with Hillary Ferrer and her whole journey into faith, but also into this world of apologetics. |
0:33.3 | We thought we talked about our own journeys a little bit and then reflect on our conversation, |
0:39.3 | of course, with Hillary. |
0:40.8 | So apologetics, you know, coming from the Greek word apologia, meaning to make a defense, |
0:46.9 | it's really this field of study where you are learning the reasons kind of the wise of the whats that we believe in Christianity. |
0:58.2 | And so that we are able, like first Peter 315 talks about, to make a defense to the unbelieving world around us. |
1:07.0 | And that is good for us in our own faith and trust journey with the Lord, but it's also good, as I say, to have things to say, to help the unbelieving people around us to sometimes move away the arguments or roadblocks that they have in coming to faith in Christ. |

1:34.9 | first maybe exposed to it as we are Christians, and then maybe even talk about some of our |
1:41.1 | favorite books. |
1:42.1 | But, okay, Sarah, so for you, when did you first even know |
1:45.7 | about this whole field of apologetic? Yeah, well, let me back up just a little bit, because I grew up |
1:51.6 | in a Christian home, and my parents were basically first generation Christians, and so they were, |
2:00.7 | you know, just really on fire about learning, all the things. And so they were, you know, just really on fire about learning all the things. |
2:04.2 | And so I watched them and probably picked up way more than I thought I did. But for some reason, |
2:11.1 | growing up, I still had these categories in my head that, you know, Christianity was about my faith in Jesus, you know, |
2:20.5 | which, of course, it's not less than that. But I remember my junior year of high school. I |
2:26.9 | remember where I was sitting. I don't remember who was talking. I think it was Dr. Myers |
2:32.6 | with Summit Ministries. But I was sitting in the second |
