There's so many things we could say about this past year, but I'll start here.

If 2020 was the year of the left losing its mind, using the death of George Floyd as a

pretext for the racialization of everything, and in some ways, 2021 was the year of the right losing its mind,

primarily over the pandemic,

but also over Trump's defeat.

We began this year with an event that looked like a South Park episode

played out in real life.

The storming of the Capitol building by nut jobs

convinced that the election had been stolen.

And this was egged on by a president that had no respect for the norms of democracy

and the peaceful transition of power.
