Summary

1983 - Kittery, Maine. Sometime after leaving work on February 3, 1983, 31-year-old Reeves K. Johnson vanished without a trace. Over the next three weeks, his bank account was drained to make strange purchases that weren’t discovered until the account was overdrawn. The case went cold almost immediately. In 2021, Murder, She Told produced a special episode on Reeves’ case, but a lot has changed since then. This is not that episode. In collaboration with the Kittery Police Dept, we have uncovered new information that wasn’t known before. 0:00.0	In October of 2021, I read an article on Sea Coast online that I had no idea would change my life.
0:09.0	It was about a missing since
0:15.0	since 1983. As somebody who knows the names, faces, and circumstances
0:20.0	of most all of the unsolved cases in Maine by heart,
0:23.5	the first thing that intrigued me
0:25.5	was that I had never heard the name Reeves before.
0:28.4	Reeves Johnson.
0:30.4	He was 31 when he went missing, lived a quiet life, came from a good family, an unlikely
0:35.8	candidate to simply vanish.
0:38.3	And then I saw the photo.
0:40.8	It was a man wearing a red trucker cap with his hand blocking the camera from capturing his face.
0:46.0	The photo is haunting and the story of how it was captured even more so.
0:51.0	Detective Brian Comer was putting this almost 40 year old case out into the
0:56.0	public for the first time since the initial investigation to seek answers for
1:00.7	Reeves surviving family.
1:02.6	So I reached out to him and introduced myself in the show.
1:06.0	Much to my surprise, I was invited down to view the case file and to interview him and the
1:10.8	family.
1:12.0	We spent two days at the Kidry Police Department working with the files, learning about the case, talking with Reeve siblings, Sally and Hugh, and then we produced an episode that was released a month later, November of 2021.
